Cheating / Reneging

Any form of cheating will not be tolerated and players caught cheating will forfeit the current tournament, all rights to any winnings and are banned from participation in future tournaments.

Stalling - Stalling a game is considered unsportsmanlike and will not be allowed during a game. Players should continue to play as quickly as possible as long as time remains on the clock.

Renege - Failure to follow suit, when possible, constitutes a renege. If either player on the opposing team believes a player on the other team reneged, that player can challenge the hand. The challenging player initiates the challenge by exposing books, one at a time, to identify where the opposing team may have reneged, until the challenging player identifies the book(s) in question. If the challenging player believes the player reneged, but they did not renege, then the challenging team will lose their bid and the challenged team will make their bid. If the challenging player believes the player reneged, and they did renege, then the challenging team will win their bid and the challenged team will lose their bid.

No Talking Across the Table – This includes verbal and non-verbal cues between players.

o Verbal - Telling a player what card led (i.e., "Pay attention to the cards.", "Watch the bags, partner,", "We only need 5 to go out", "Play to win”.

Openly talking about bids saying things like, “Well…there’s 11 out on the table, so there’s only 2 books left, so I guess I will go 1”. Talking strategy, in any form, before, during or after rounds of play is also talking.

Non-verbal - Signaling between players by shifting articles of clothing, coughing, sneezing, laughing, blinking, moving hands excessively, tapping fingers or foot, etc.

Non-verbal with Use of Technology – Using any form of technology to include smart glasses, phones, tablets, etc. to text, video or take photographs while cards are in play. Any team can challenge another team for using technology during a match. A ruling will be made by the referee with a review of the device. If no violation occurred, play would continue as normal.
