Originally conceived in 2010, This Ain't BBQ Spades has been a popular social event in the Charlotte-area community for over a decade. Everyone enjoys playing Spades. Players in our tournament come from a variety of backgrounds; and we are proud to host some of the coolest people around. Whether you're a Newbie, Intermediate or Advanced Player, everyone is welcome! Enjoy learning how to execute high-stakes strategies that makes our tournamemts different from your regular "backyard Spades".

Did You Know? Classic or Old School Spades originated in 1937 by combining Bid Whist and Bridge to create a faster-paced, trick-taking game where spades are always the trump?  The game rose in popularity during World War II among military soldiers. Spades is one of the most popular card games played in the U.S.

This Ain't BBQ Spades is a competitive tournament series. We have established rules and a manner of play that will raise your Spades game to an entirely new level. 

Registration Fee is $25

Prize Money - 80% of the pot goes to the top two (2) teams who win each tournament. The remaining 20% is awarded to the Tournament of Champions winners at the end of the year. 

Players form 2-person teams (decide on a team name). We play according to official tournament rules,utilizing a sophisticated scoring & ranking system that captures both Individual & Team results. Tournament rules are what distinguishes the 'style of play' for our tournament from how Spades is played at a cookout or family reunion.
